Prince – For You

Best quality so far. This pressing is amazing! Not a single crackle and flat heavy vinyl. Very dynamic and deep bass. Forget about the Sony Legacy if you can get this one.

Weird how this new series (with some releases missing - Purple Rain, Parade, Batman and Graffiti Bridge) has followed loosely the original 80's CD designs, but with some tweaks to the art - isn't remastered, with the exception of 1999 and Sign 'O' The Times. So when these do eventually get remasters and deluxe editions, these will be the odd ones out. Seems pointless.

When I was 7 years old, I heard "Soft And Wet", and I yelled, "Who Is That???!!!!!! Well, I found out it was the one and only "Prince", and I've been hooked ever since...."For You", I admit wasn't a blast out the gate, but for a 17 year old with a "Total Creative Control" contract from one of the biggest record companies in "Warner Bros." and you sound like this????? Really???!!!! Prince wrote, produced, and arranged every note himself, which showed how much confidence the company had in him at the time....Besides the first single in "Soft And Wet", the other songs worth noting were, "In Love", "Just As Long As We're Together" (the second single), "My Love Is Forever", and the well thought out "So Blue"....The rest was kind of filler, but in Prince's case, it didn't matter....Back in those days, artist were allow to develop, and thank goodness "Prince" was allowed to...From this time on, we would be exposed to a mountain of music by a man who saw no musical bounds....

If anyone has a "sleeve only" for sale, please hit me up. I have "fair" at best copy, so the sleeve does not need to be in great shape. I'd probably pay $5-ish.

Sounds great but is anyone else getting a little sibilance in the first 20-30 seconds on the first track?

Did anybody get a chance to listen to the 2022 reissue? Is the sound quality any good. Is this a quiet pressing?

I take it this is the same mastering as the 2016 remaster vinyl, except this doesn’t have any involvement with Warner?

A great debut, wish some lush vocals, varied elements and styles of music including soul, rock, funk and disco. My favorite tracks being "My Love Is Forever", "Soft & Wet" and "I'm Yours". There are some okay tracks (Baby, So Blue) however every song is professionally crafted and from the heart.

I just recently discovered The Loring Park Sessions and I was stunned! I cried.
In 1977, I was two years out of high school, now living in "the big city" and heavily into all manner of funk. But I was not into Prince yet, and would not have appreciated this music at the time.
Vinyl has become a huge part of my life in the last couple of years and I held my breath as I searched for this album. Incredibly disappointing, for sure.
I'd appreciate knowing if anyone has seen a CD available to buy recently.
