The Ken Ishii remix of Come Out is gorgeous! This remix album isnt as bad as one may think, there are definitely some talented highlights

Certainly interesting, for me Coldcut & Tranquility Bass standout. The latter, that’s midwest-balearic, desert meets Great Plains, horizons fuse, creation vibrates; the former, post-industrial sonic Impressionism, enchanting textures punctuated by urban energies.

As a big steve reich fan I was surprised as probably a lot of the people below to hear there was a remix album! If you are listening to this expecting Steve Reich, I think you are in the wrong place. This is a completely different style of music, a couple of pretty good club damagers on this, and some other ones less so. If you are complaining about this being 'shredded to pieces' or 'unlistenable' go listen to a normal steve reich album. Its like being angry at Domino's for not making burgers.

This horrible collection could not be further away from the spirit and philosophy of the original composer, completely shredded in pieces here. Really awful, almost unlistenable when you know something about Steve Reich.

I want to bring a balanced perspective on this. I was unaware of who Steve Reich was in 1999. So this compilation introduced me to his work. So I dont find it to be horribke at all
Its decent and has some good.memories for me. So in that retrospect I cant be mad

Andrea Parker Remix is really special. Nice dark electro track.

The 4th track on disc two is an untitled, unmentioned track. It's a simple vocal clip that's chopped up and looped over and over on top of itself for nearly 13 minutes.

                  UPDATE!

After a little more research, I found that the track is "Come Out" by Steve Reich and is not a remix either.

I've not lasted my way through all these but I will say this album shows how works of genius can be turned into grade A crap by normally decent producers who have no respect or familiarity with the original works.

This collection is a disappointing melange of half baked ideas and a general failure to meet the demands of the source material. Coldcut's twitchy, bubbly techno approach works nicely, but the absolute bottom of the remix barrel is reached with Tranquility Bass' awful "Megamix," which mixes many classic tracks into a pointless novelty exercise. Howie B cuts apart and pastes together "8 Lines," then adds dopey ticking percussion and cheesy effects along with warped voice samples. Andrea Parker puts forth a relaxed, dull, dark electro impression of "The Four Sections." Nobukazu Takemura begins promisingly enough but repetition weighs his version down as the same vocal motif repeats over and over. Admirers of Steve Reich and the collective talent of the remixers will likely be disappointed.
