Do not listen to the final track (The Black Mass: An Electric Storm In Hell) under the influence of any psychotropic drugs, unless you enjoy torture & fear.

It's a hard listen sober.

Breathtaking Album. Early Electronics combined with Sounds of the BBC Radiophonic Workshops Delia Derbyshire. From electronic Barbershop songs (Firebird) to pure Rhytm and noise cacophony (Electric storm in hell) Very intense and unique Album. The one for lonely Island.

This is a matter of taste, of course. But stemming from Düsseldorf and having been bored by Kraftwerk already in the seventies, I vividly recall having been frightened and fascinated by these three guys (or more precisely: two guys and a girl) who brought together advanced state of the art electronical music and psychedelic rock music. I hear it now for the first time in - say - thirty years, and it seems still nearly as intense as back then. What I hear now and couldn't hear then is the fun they must have had then; so your mentioning the Pythons is not completely off.

the work put into making this sounds is amazing, cutting tapes and matching tempos by hand!

Reading the blurb on the back I was hoping I had discovered a proto-Kraftwerkian album. But the years have not been kind to these tunes, to me (without taking into account its history) it sounds like some early Stereolab demo's, or Monty Python outtakes. The most interesting track is the last one, which comes across as an early industrial jam.

One of the best albums of all time [apart from the last track]
Gorgeous, trippy, intelligent electronic pop : )
Criminal that they didn't do anything else together.
And such a shame Vorhaus tarnished the project with poor subsequent releases : (

An absolutely unbeliavable masterpiece that was miles ahead of its time and is still available in good record shops (CD). If you think sweeping filters on drumparts have been invented in the trip-hop era you couldn't be more worng. These people have done it before. This is one of the most relevant albums regarding elaborate composition and production techniques in modern music. Very deep listening.

This is the first Techno album in my opinion - first heard this in 1973 and wow what a revelation , the likes of Faust , Can and Amon Düül II (Krautrock at it`s best)couldn`t even come close to this "electric storm" . i am sure the singer is Pal Joey . The tone of the voice on the beautifull "Love Without A Sound" and "My Game Of Loving" are unforgettable. Haven`t heard this voice for over 20 years and hearing Pal Joey immediately made me think of this songs . a true masterpiece . Lost the vinyl during the years . if you wanna sell, contact me..;-)..
