An amazing record focusing on the unknown paulinha "não-wave" scene (1980-88). Absolutely fresh, brilliant, seminal and lusty. The Brazilian Paradox at its best: superb production for lo-fi tricky ballads, subtle mix of harsh guitars and hot percussions, and brazilian portuguese lyrics perfectly fitting in. A definitive must-have for anyone into James Chance, Suicide, ESG, Was Not Was. Forget about any North-South complex, São Paulo is far as exciting as Manchester or New-York, and the historic label Baratos Afins is wooooorth Factory. This year's hottest surprise.
