Jimi Hendrix – Valleys Of Neptune

I brought out my air guitar and danced after 5 sec. On side one.
The music is fantastic. My pressing was quiet. The sound quality was very good, but I wanted more after repeated listening.

Sound is absolutely amazing, these Hendrix family pressings are usually really great.

I purchased my non-numbered copy new and sealed from Amazon. While all the matrix and barcode numbers match what is listed here, including the RTI numbers, the LP's are definitely 200 gram and were placed in inner sleeves from Quality Record Pressings. Has anyone else received a similar copy?

This is a superb sounding audio release. I'm legally blind but from what I can see so far I believe I have one of the US pressings. I bought it brand new (12 years after it was originally released). But I don't see any Made in Germany stickers or any other mentions of anything in Europe on it. At least so far.

My copy has a really great mix with a good, heavy hitting base and the highs and mid-range sound just perfect also. I haven't heard any surface noises on my copy so far. I'm halfway through Side 4 right now.

I've been buying a lot of Hendrix LPs, brand new, since I started getting back into LPs last year. Just about all of the 180g pressings have sounded good. Some sound better than others but I definitely do like the sound of this one.

I don't see any mention of Eddie Kramer having anything to do with this LP release. I don't know if he did or not but it's not advertised like it is on many of the other Experience Hendrix LLC releases.

I think this is a great 2XLP set that sounds, as I already said, spectacular!

Valleys of Neptune is a posthumous album by Jimi Hendrix, Hendrix was experimenting with songs for his unfinished fourth album, but never had the chance to finish. Released in the United States on March 9, 2010, the album was promoted as having "12 previously unreleased studio recordings", including the title track, "one of the most sought after of all of Hendrix's commercially unavailable recordings

The tracks on Valleys of Neptune were largely self-produced by Hendrix, and received extra posthumous production from Janie Hendrix, Eddie Kramer and John McDermott. Recorded mostly in 1969 following the release of Electric Ladyland, the album predominantly features the original line-up of the Jimi Hendrix Experience: vocalist and guitarist Hendrix, bass guitarist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. The lead single released from the album was "Valleys of Neptune", on February 1, 2010, followed by "Bleeding Heart" on March 1. Music videos were produced for both songs. The majority of the tracks on Valleys of Neptune were recorded in early 1969, while Hendrix was experimenting with songs for his unfinished fourth album, following the successful release of Electric Ladyland in September 1968. Numerous versions have been released, both officially and otherwise, and the majority of the "previously unreleased" recordings present on the 2010 album had been released in one form or another before, albeit sometimes in inferior quality or different versions. The album artwork is based on a painting by Hendrix himself in 1957. "He went through a phase doing watercolors at school and this was one of the 110 drawings of his that our father kept. When I saw this one he did in 1957, it screamed 'Valleys of Neptune' to me so we knew we'd use it for this project," said his step-sister, Janie. The album artwork is a mix of his painting and a Linda McCartney photograph of him with a blue tint.

Something I do not understand. This version is a reissue(?????????????????), however the 1st 5000 numbered copies. For the later issued not numbered versions are not reissue???? What a amateur description is this??? Please, could somebody explain it to me? Would be help a lot. Thanks.

I bought my copy brand new and both of the records had like a baby powder all over them. Once cleaned they did sound fine. Had to replace the inner sleeves. Anyone else have this problem with this release?

My favorite album of all time. Coming from a huge Hendrix fan, this posthumous release is easily one of Jimi's best albums ever, if not his best.
