This is a great-sounding pressing. The instruments sound great and the vocals have a nice soft touch to them. Great hippie blues. I truly think Canned Heat is underrated. Those boys knew how to boogie....

For such an old record my pressing is quiet. I bought it used. Many scuffs but it plays quiet after 4 Degritter washes and hand cleaning. I'm happy.

All my copies of Canned Heat sound great. They recorded great-sounding records too.

I give it a 4 but it could be a 5, though it is not perfect. But close. ;)

Thanks for your reviews below on the first LP. Really enjoying their unique rockin', changing tempos, and excellent guitar sounds from all the rest but now on to the first. Both lead vocal styles, and guitar word are beautiful. Amazing band I haven't appreciated until lately, and am blown away by their talent.

A band that stayed true to their blues roots & on this excellent debut you get superb versions of their straight-ahead blues/boogie – great guitar, harp, vocals & a solid rhythm backbone. Includes two songs Rory Gallagher made his own - Bullfrog & Catfish Blues. And don’t you love those band member’s nick names: Blind Owl, The Mole, Sunflower, The Bear & Fido. HOT!

My copy flat and no surface noise. Don’t have any other pressings to compare but very happy with mastering on this. Boogie woogie tastic!

My copy of this pressing sounds very good, and I prefer it to the original UK mono press of Canned Heat. The stereo image is typically random given its recording date, but there is more space for the guitars and vocals which I think is an advantage.

These guys are true scholars of the blues and here on their first LP they mostly offer their own straight ahead amplified renditions of classic and lesser well known blues works by artists such as Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Sonny Boy Williamson II and Guitar Slim. That said, the highlight is their own Bullfrog Blues which shows they are more than just a blues jukebox.
