- It's a good album, but my copy (bought new from SE) is a static nightmare, even after being cleaned.
- Cool looking collector's item, but ultimately anyone wanting nice audio will be better served by a CD. The vinyl pressing is better than most picture discs, but you're still going to have a lot of crackle. I agree about the packaging too- what's there is not sufficient for proper storage. Bring your own sleeves and outer for sure.
- One thing I'd like to warn others about is the packaging for this release is pisspoor. It's a heavy laminated outer jacket with two thin plastic sleeves around the vinyl. Definitely recommend replacing it with better quality inner sleeves and an actual outer sleeve for safety. You don't lose much presentation value in doing this, there wasn't a ton to begin with.
- One of the greatest video games soundtracks of all time hands down. I find myself coming back to this one a lot.
- Great record, although personally I think the song choice isn't the best.
Would have liked to see Ahead, On Our Way and Great Warrior on there! - I originally posted this in the Edit notes:
There were more than 1200 copies pressed in total. The Square EU store states:
"This is a limited edition and only 1200 copies with a serial number will be up for grabs in the EMEA territories."
The Japanese Square store stated their run would be determined by the number of preorders they received. All my copies are from the Japanese store and their serial numbers are in the 1300 range. So in the end, I guess we'll never know the grand total. - What about the quality of these? I heard that Final Fantasy Vinyls collection sounds pretty good, but what about these?
- Regarding the "overnumbering" of this release, I contacted Square Enix Support, who had this response:
"Unfortunately, we do not have a lot of information on this subject, as the Support Centre does not have access to such information.
However, from what we have been able to find out, it looks as though the first batch was the original 1200, meaning that there may have been enough demand for a second, or even third batch."
So not a 100% sure reply. Since this is a Japanese pressing, the Japanese SE Store are probably the ones to contact for the best answer, but I don't speak Japanese, so this is the best I can get at the moment.
