Having this exact pressing. This is a great press, though, rough and loud as a recording through certain sections... can only be excused by the fact that the recording quality of the master just must have not been great.
I have enjoyed the whole album, through and through. It's a great album, and if you can get your hands on a copy that doesn't have too many scratches and so on, I recommend it.
People comparing this to "exact replicas" need to understand that what they are referring to are most likely later remasters and repressed copies of this album rather than the original 1980s mastering. Main difference being release date, it being coloured and so on, is not the same. If looking for a much cheaper copy because of how scary the price may be to those that simply wanna enjoy an album- I recommend heading over to Rough Trade where they have announced quite recently if memory serves a Remaster of all 3 debut albums from The Sound!referencing Jeopardy (LP, Album) KODE 2
Can't be certain, but from a little snooping on EU record store inventories, this and From the Lion's Mouth appear to be getting color reissues in September from Warner Music.
I could be completely wrong. Feel free to correct or add info.referencing Jeopardy (LP, Album) KODE 2
I believe I have a copy of this NZ version. I also have the original UK 'Korova' version. The inner sleeve of my suspected NZ version has a misprint on (the first) 'We Wiii Wait'. Unless this is from my UK copy?referencing Jeopardy (LP, Album) KODE 2
I have this exact pressing however my vinyl lp is a translucent wine color when held to a light source. Very very cool. Do all of you have the translucent vinyl for this press or did all of these get pressed using the save vinyl compound?referencing Jeopardy (LP, Album) KODE 2
I have this original pressing of Jeopardy: The Sound (2) - Jeopardy
It's a pressing from West Germany and it was pressed using the UK stampers cut at Strawberry. There have been complaints that Missiles sounds weird on the reissues but I can confirm that it sounds very weird on this original pressing, too. Especially the drums and vocals sound extremely muddy.referencing Jeopardy (LP, Album, Reissue, Stereo) KOW 58 255
Hauntingly good, I can't Escape Myself embodies the feeling of self alienationreferencing Jeopardy (LP, Album, Reissue) if02
Got a recently repressed version and it don’t sound bad. Really nice bass definition, drums that hit, dynamic vocals, good separation. An overall enjoyable listen. Not having this on vinyl, I’m pretty happy with the way this sounds. I wouldn’t say it sounds bad, actually a very, very decent reNdering. Maybe my system brings out the best of what this pressing has to offer but it is clear and defined in every way and the music sounds pure, bold and energetic. If you see a copy at retail definitely grab it because this thing is probably already out-of-print again. That’s just the current state we’re in with this out of whack vinyl industry currently. I’m sure it will be repressed again but it’s taking longer and longer now until we see these things. My pressing is flawless too. Flat, centered and dead quiet with not a click or pop to be detected.referencing Jeopardy (LP, Album, Reissue, Stereo) KOW 58 255
Everything looks the same as described, but I'm not sure that's my version, because :
regarding: "(Runout side A, stamped): STRAWBERRY (C) R/S Alsdorf 58255 A2"
-> I can see "UK" hand-stamped and crossed out before the word "STRAWBERRY", and a hand-stamped "X" also after "A2".
regarding: "(Runout side B, stamped): STRAWBERRY R/S Alsdorf 58255 B2"
-> I also see a hand engraved "X" after "B2".
If anyone is sure they have this version, could they verify these entries? Thank you!referencing Jeopardy (LP, Album, Reissue) if02
This does sound surprisingly good, especially since 1972 doesn't have the best reputation going. The only downside is the typical issues associated with records pressed by Rainbo - in this case, random patches of non-fill on Side B.referencing Jeopardy (LP, Album) KODE 2
Rising out of the ashes of his former bands, Adrian Borland found his voice on 'Jeopardy'. For a brief period, the band even found their audience, albeit mostly in The Netherlands, I think. They used to play Amsterdam and the wider country all the time in those heady days of the anti-nuclear movement thanks to their song 'Missiles'.
It's still a stunningly good album, and it's a shame Borland ended up so desillusioned and depressed as to take his own life. Anyone serious about music should have a copy of this fantastic album, and of course an original copy feels as close to Borland and The Sound as you can get.
