Massive Attack – Mezzanine

Listen to Man next door at about 80dB and tell me you ain't shaking your ass. Yeah I thought so...

Fabulous pressing, really deep bass and superb sound overall. .

My pressing did have quite a bit of pops and clicks throughout and some were eating into the start of the tracks.

After a clean and a few plays it has calmed down a lot, thankfully, and it seems to be ok now.

In terms of the pressing, “Made in Germany”, I would say it’s an 8/10. It does have great amounts of low end and the tracks sound great with plenty of depth and clarity.

I will be keeping my copy but I was a little disappointed given so much great reviews I had seen before pondering for months to purchase this.

Yes, the album itself is exceptional, obviously. I discovered it somewhere around 2003. This pressing is vibrant and multidimensional and takes the album higher. Pressing is deep, grooving, and experientially isolating in a special pleasant way. Cut to lacquer by Sean Magee at Abbey Road and masterfully pressed by Optimal. Now if they can only get around to reissuing great cuts/pressings of HELIGOLAND and 100TH WINDOW, my Massive vinyl collection would be complete.

Both disks play just fine on my Pioneer internal BDR-S13JX drive. But, the use of black disks is a poor choice.

One of my all time favorite albums, I still don't think Massive Attack are given due respect for just how groundbreaking they've been as musicians, they literally broke all established rules in melody making, their use of contrast in so many areas makes the music so much more impactful, and they enlisted artists that complimented their melodies in a way that no one could have expected.

Am I the only one thinking the sound stage is somewhat lacking, despite other aspects are quite good? I don’t have any other copy to compare but this one sound pretty flat to me. I was hoping spacious 3D sound field for this iconic album.

Just ordered on Amazon. I do have the 'Made in Germany' sticker but the labels of both records are orange and not white. All other identifiers match.

Sounds great, wonderful bass and lots of detail. Flat, silent vinyl with no pops or crackles. I immediately put the records in poly lined inner sleeves.

Mine didn't have the 'Made in Germany' sticker on the back shrink-wrap, all other identifiers match though.

Sounds great, packaging looks nice although I wish they’d done a gatefold instead of just shoving two LPs into one slot.
