this is such a great album. i really really recommend buying this, and if you already have it then take good care of it- I can’t compare to other versions but this sounds fantastic. I always wash mine and replace the liners with Poly. A double disc has more space for the grooves so I’d take this over any single disc. My only grumble is is has about two pops and a bit of surface rumble inbetween tracks but it’s not offensive to me and I’m very fussy. Zero surface noise during tracks. This is a bargain compared to other premium offerings I’d say

We have been waiting for some Dire Straits deluxe versions for ever and now Brothers in Arms 40th Anniversary edition finally comes out and what a disappointment - just the original album tracks and some live concerts ie nothing extra at all !
Edited one month agoNot a bad song on this masterpiece of a record and should be in every collection. Dire Straits never disappoints with recording technicals and sound quality. This isn’t a great pressing, maybe it’s just my copy but it will be replaced soon.
Crackles & pops, musically it’s great as it should be but the pops are a distraction. I won’t ‘sell’ this, I’ll bin it.
Incredible pressing. This album is simply stunning. The vinyl is super flat, and the sleeve is beautifully done. An amazing sounding album. Much better than my mint UK original. Get this copy.
Very good EQ, maybe a bit modest on the low end compared to my OG Specialty Pressing. Nice soundstage, separation and comes alive when played loudly. Not my “go to” version but not bad either!- Scared into action by the news of this going out of print I ordered this one.
Fabulous sounding record. - Great SACD. Full sounding and lots of punch in the recording.
I took the time to listen critically to this pressing and I actually used a score-sheet to give a score on different aspects of the sound quality.
After listening to most of the songs I can say that it scored a whopping 10.5 on a scale of 10 (by earning extra points on most aspects).
These are the categories I scored the record in:
Silence (of the vinyl), Dynamics, Bass, Treble, Soundstage, Experience, Details/Nuances, Vividness/Tactility
All points score a 10 or higher for me. Everything I would want is there and more. It is my highest scoring record so far.
