Jon Hopkins – Music For Psychedelic Therapy

Black 2xLP here. Not impressed by my new copy. Unfortunately the very slight warp is very much audible. Crackle and distracting pops throughout all sides of both records. Repeating waves of surface noise through the R channel most likely due to warp. You'd think on an album with music like this, they'd have taken the utmost care to compliment the experience. Hopefully will be able to exchange for another copy...

haven’t seen anybody else mention this problem, so maybe i just got a bit unlucky, but both discs in the copy i purchased were clearly pressed with very little care..
many loose bits of pvc were hanging off around the sides of the discs, and also stuck into the sides of the center labels. i spent a lot of time trying to gently pick them off but some are so stuck that i’d end up damaging the discs if i tried any harder to remove them.

pretty annoying. and along with that, i am also disappointed by the quality of the sound.. was expecting it to be much more smooth. i was so excited to get my hands on this album, it’s one of my favorite recent works to sit down and soak in whilst in a creative flow. i guess i’m still glad to have it on vinyl, but it definitely has left me feeling a bit dismayed.

No surface noice on this.

Picked up a copy and it’s cut quiet, so enter the clicks and pops caused by turning it up. Can’t say I’m impressed really, not all of it sounds bad by any means, but some sections are pretty poor listening.

Corking Ambient release. If it gets a bit too new-agey towards the end, hold on to your chakras because it's all part of the trip, man. Immersive and relaxing, exciting and beguiling. Away from the IDM stylings of previous works this offers minimalistic drones and field recordings with what sound like processed instrumentation glissandos. Not for the cynical or the usual Domino crowd methinks; but for the forward thinking and the just plain thinking crowd.

I simply can't stop listening to this. "Sit Around the Fire" is such an arresting track. Love it!

Just got mine second hand from my local record store.. no noise, no warp, no problems. Guess im lucky here

Somewhat bowl shaped, but sounds great. As I've seen notes on mixed clear/black vinyl, I'd like to confirm I received two black disks (in the Netherlands for what it's worth)

Is there a clear vinyl batch that doesn’t have the surface noise? Mine has it on B and C.
