- Edited 2 years ago... is a recording of a concert from the legendary Village Vanguard club, played in a band known from the 2013 People Music album.
The band is harmonious, the improvisations are technically advanced, the topics are played precisely.
This is typical mainstream jazz - songs are usually played in swing, after the themes, other musicians play solos, and at the end of the song the theme returns. Formula known for some 80 years. After the solos, we often hear the audience's reactions, which is actually a value here.
... but the main problem of the music recorded here is its secondaryness
"that's how it was played 50 years ago"
and if it were not for the way and the high level of the recording, it would be difficult to tell the difference.
,The release is very good, the vinyl is simple and without crackles, as is usually the case with Mack products. - Edited one year agoI dig this mucho more than the studio debut which doesn't grab me. This one though is more swinging & accessible.
