Notes
"Let It Be" is the 12th and final studio album by the Beatles. It was released in May 1970, almost a month after the group's break-up, in tandem with the motion picture of the same name.
In the UK, "Let It Be" was initially released on 8 May 1970 as a box set, with a 168-page book, titled "Get Back", containing stills and dialogue from the film. The back sleeve has a red apple logo, but the labels have green apples. The package retailed at £2 19s 11d, one pound more than the normal selling price of an album. On 6 November 1970 it was withdrawn and replaced by a conventional album release.
"Let It Be" had its US release on 18 May 1970 by United Artists Records under catalog number AR 34001 with a red apple label, a gatefold sleeve and $6.98 list price. More than 3,700,000 advance orders had been placed, which at the time was the highest for any album in the history of the US recording industry.
The film "Let It Be" had its world première in New York City on 13 May 1970. On 20 May, UK premieres were held at Liverpool’s Gaumont Cinema and the London Pavilion. None of The Beatles attended any of the events.
In the USA, when Capitol Records purchased the United Artists record label in 1978, it issued the album on the Capitol label in a standard non-gatefold sleeve to further reduce costs, but included a color poster and photo inner sleeve.
On 6 Nov 1976, Billboard magazine reported that almost a half-million overstocked copies of "Let It Be" were purchased by Surplus Record & Tape Distributors in New Jersey of which 190,000 were from United Artists and 300,000 were from Capitol records. They were shipped to dealers across the USA to be sold.
The first CD release was on 19 Nov 1987 as catalog number CDP 7 46447 2. On the same day, HMV released a special 12" box set with CD, badge, booklet and photos in a limited edition of 10,000 units as catalog number BEA CD 25/8.
On 09/09/09 (Number Nine, Number Nine, Number Nine) the album was re-released as part of the Beatles "In Stereo Remasters" collection.

I went through 3 different copies on this, all with awful distortion and harsh sibilance in the exact same spots on the second half of each side. I am confident it is not my setup or turntable. Lots of other folks have been complaining about it on various forums; someone posted sound samples and their problems in the audio matched my problems. Back to the store all 3 copies went.
By contrast, the CD versions and Hi-Res digital on Apple Music do not have the same issues. Too bad because Amazon has this box under $100 this week. Hopefully someone up top takes note and these get repressed, but I doubt it.

Listen to the Glyn Johns mix, a master piece ! The Long And Winding Road without the string orchestra is perfect.
It sounds like Beggars'Banquet from the Rolling Stones.

Sadly, I have to confirm this release is plagued by high distortion - not sure if it's just IGD or hot mastering but it is what it is. Too bad, since the new mix sounds great. Stick with the digital versions and skip the vinyl.

Well… I’m not disappointed? My copy is very flat and sounds real clean with the exception of some cracks from dust and static. I think that Giles did a great job with remixing the album. My only complaint is about the pressing itself. Like many others have stated about this release, there is some distortion on this pressing. It’s most noticeable with Let It Be and Maggie Mae. I don’t think that it’s an issue with my stylus/cartridge since most people have the same complaint. But in the end, I’m not disappointed. I don’t listen to Let It Be as much as the other albums, so I’m not too worried about some distortion.
Apple Records (Universal Music) sold us in Europe and in the US a CD box for an average value of ~80€. That box includes 5 CDs and one audio Blu ray. Later "Apple Records" pressed essentially the same songs (only some studio chatter was cut) on only 2 (!) CDs (for this russian release here). And for this release the russian fans paid an average value of just ~10€! I have no words for that. This is how to do business. Obviously they can do it with Beatles fans.

I would not recommend this pressing. It has a lot of distortion. My favourite tracks aren't affected by it though.

EMI "Important Notice" inner sleeve showing Manchester Square address with my copy has code 437 683 suggesting issue date of June 1983 for this pressing. Unlikely that this was an export issue IMO.
I picked up a copy yesterday and it does seem to reflect many of the comments here; a little too distorted, especially at the ends, surface noise throughout, and a little warped. It's not so terrible I feel inclined to run back to the store and return it, but it could have been better. Otherwise, I really enjoy this remix and album.
