Dubheads: don't sleep on this rare gem. Solid pressing and the beats / mix are killer.

Short but superlative, "Pleasure Dub" collects twelve atmospheric dubs of rocksteady classics like Phyllis Dillon's 'Get on the Right Track' and 'Things You Say You Love' by the Jamaicans. Pure magic from beginning to end, best exemplified by Raymond Young's eerily plaintive violin solo on 'Dub with Strings' (the dub version of 'The Tide Is High' by the Paragons); most of the six bonus tracks are marred by poor sound, but all are interesting. Imagine going to the beach in September, walking down a breezy hotel corridor and hearing the faint echoes of bygone dance parties, like the ghosts of summer soirées at Gatsby's mansion. That's the vibe of this album. If you're looking for a disc that can be enjoyed by novices and seasoned fans of Jamaican popular music alike, look no further: "Pleasure Dub" is as good as it gets.

Best dub album ever, played with some of the best musicians of mid 70's Jamaica.
