Let's get this out of the way. Flying Lotus does not make audiophile recordings. His music exists in the digital realm, is intentionally clipped, distorted, and compressed to the point of no return. Dynamic range, yeah, that's hilarious. It's part of his aesthetic.

With that being said, hardcore fans of Cosmogramma will enjoy this pressing.

The new artwork within the gatefold is nice, as is the art print insert. The marbled colored vinyl, while it works with the overall aesthetic, is a huge miss for me. The center labels on my copy were properly aligned, but don't include side indicators, so have fun guessing which side you're listening to.

As for the sound quality...it's excellent. This is an album that I know intimately, and you can expect to discover greater clarity, nuance, and separation amidst the chaos. In some cases, it's startling (Do the Astral Plane and MmmHmm made my neck snap). The veil has been lifted. Prepare for another journey of sonic discovery.

My pressing is very quiet.

Okay but how does it sound? Is the remaster good/worth it?

Despite being pressed by GZ (the Walmart of press plants), I think this sounds fantastic. Half-speed master definitely helps, and is incredibly dynamic. Pressed loud.

This version of Cosmogramma came without labels on the A and B side. Like, the first LP is completely naked. Am I the only one with this issue?

Some people might not notice it, but the center labels on this release are misplaced, affecting Side B and C since they swapped label art. I pointed this out to the people of VMP, and they confirmed this oddity. Not sure if it means they'll make a new pressing with the correct center labels, it's worth pointing out.

As an aside, I love this album. It covers the right kind of genres that appeal to me in almost every track.

Warp Records did a boo-boo, if what you said is true.

The labels on the original release are the same! When this release came out I did a side by side comparison and noticed the error on both pressings.

Such a rich and pristine pressing. Really brings out the details in this marvelous piece of art.

Had this on CD for a while and absolutely adore it. Bought the vinyl and it's even better - superb clean recording and pressing and great dynamics.

Probably the worst pressing I've ever purchased new on vinyl. Pretty disappointing surface noise. Really enjoy the album though.

I have to say I reckon its the mixing - there are times when I enjoy this immensely and other times when it sounds like an absolute racket!
