Notes
Official soundtrack of the film "Easy Rider"
Originally released by ABC/Dunhill Records (in North America) and Stateside (in Europe)
Source of tracks:
A1 & A2 - Steppenwolf
A4 - The Notorious Byrd Brothers
A5 - The Moray Eels Eat The Holy Modal Rounders (as "Bird Song")
B1 - The Fraternity Of Man
B2 - Axis: Bold As Love
B3 - Mass In F Minor
The rest were created exclusively for the soundtrack.
Trivia:
⇒ "The Weight", as originally recorded by The Band for their 1968 debut album Music From Big Pink, was used in the film, but couldn't be licensed for the soundtrack. To deal with this, ABC-Dunhill commissioned Smith (3), to record a cover version of the song for the soundtrack album.
⇒ One of the film's scriptwriters, the star, Peter Fonda, had originally intended to use Bob Dylan's version of "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" in the film, but after failing to secure the appropriate licensing, he asked Roger McGuinn to record a cover of it instead.
⇒ The last track "Ballad Of Easy Rider" was partially co-written by Bob Dylan, but disowned its contribution on that song, due to his strong dislike of the film's ending, as well as due to his belief, that his name was being exploited to boost the film's street credibility. This song was later re-recorded by McGuinn's band The Byrds, and included on Ballad Of Easy Rider.

very collectable and unusal pressing of this album, but not the best pressing and sound quality.
It sounds very harsh and shrill with basically no bass. There was never a printed sleeve to this, just a generic sono cairo sleeve.referencing Easy Rider (Music From The Soundtrack) (LP, Compilation, Stereo, Santa Maria Pressing) DSX 50063
Bob Dylan was not the only one who disliked the film (see the "Trivia" above). Before performing an embryonic version of his own track entitled "Ezy Rider" at the Fillmore East on 31st December 1969, Jimi Hendrix can be heard saying that he was "mad as hell" after seeing "this picture called 'Easy Rider'". Although he didn't elucidate further, claiming "I don't for what [I was mad]", it seems reasonable to assume that, like Dylan, Hendrix felt that the movie's ending was too negative. His "Ezy Rider" could be viewed in part as a response to the film's final scene. This is all the more interesting, given that the Jimi Hendrix Experience appear on the soundtrack LP.referencing Easy Rider (Songs As Performed In The Motion Picture Sem Destino) (CD, Compilation) MCD01647

What I always thought, it would be a good idea to mix the songs "Don't Bogart That Joint" and "Please Don't Drop That H-Bomb On Me". It would go - "Don't bogart that joint, you can drop it on yourself", then just say that part over and over like the song goes. Thank you for your comprehension.- I have a bit different version which I can’t find elsewhere. It looks just the same as this release including the run out markings but the number printed is 2C 064 90661 instead of 2C 062 ... Does anyone have the same? Rest of

Vinyl Spanish First Edition Promocional Of 1970 Soundtrack Of Easy Rider ,Stateside Records.- Nice its 7 1/2, but from what I've learned, doesn't insure a good sound. Some of the songs are better transferred from the master than others. Still, any prerecorded reel tape is historical.

There's another NZ version. It features alternate artwork, a zoom-up to the face on the US artwork in light orange and a white backdrop. EMI/Regal label (so probably the blue label). Surely a triple flipback front-laminated cover.
