Edited 6 days agoThis was purchased new from Amazon US in 2024. This pressing is very flat and lacking in low-end depth. I'm sure there are better pressings of this out there. If anyone knows of a better pressing that is currently in print or easy to obtain at a reasonable price, please let me know. Not looking for an OG Jeepster pressing, but something better than this.
You can see what Stuart Murdoch means when he said some years ago he never realized how 'folky' this album sounds. From what I've read they were a bit underwhelmed with the actual recording. By folky, I take it that he means the album is a little underdone sonically. But the all in one room/ playing as a band with some overdubs vibe probably helps to make it the classic it is. That simple sound is endearing. It's an A1 collection of songs and a staggering follow-up to Tigermilk which itself was incredible. My vinyl is very good sounding with no probs. Like someone else said, some of the printed lyrics are wrong. Seems to be somewhat common. I'm pretty sure some of the Tigermilk lyrics are wrong and the Push Button to Open Old Wounds also has some incorrect lyrics. Funny. Maybe Stuart submitted pure original lyrics sheets whereas what went to record ended up slightly different.
Am I crazy or was this originally listed as a matador reissue from like 1998 and now it says 2010?

pulled this out again for the first time in years, sounds great!
This is one of my favourite records to play, it sounds amazing, I've cried to it, etc.
Not sure if this is present in other versions or mediums of the album, but the lyrics printed on the sleeve are incorrect in a number of songs.- My copy is noisy. Lots of snap, pops and crackles

Excellent pressing, very silent and clean. Even better than "The boy with the arab strap" on green vinyl. If all LPs were pressed with such care, I would be in heaven.
