Reviews
- This is just fabulous! So much expression in Beth's voice! And at the same time - not too much. It feels like she's got the right point of every song. And all of this is made with love - arrangements, vocals and overal performance. Modern sound recording has breathed a new energy in these songs.
Superb quality of vinyl and packaging. Six stars out of five! referencing A Tribute To Led Zeppelin (2×LP, Album, Limited Edition, Red & Gold Splatter) PRD 7659 1-3
Flawless Recording. This vinyl is an experience. Beth is a treasure.- Edited 5 months agoVocals and Music: Beth Hart is fire! Her vocals are perfect for Zeppelin, not just her tone and power, but the passion in which she delivers the songs. She is well versed with Led Zeppelin having covered their songs live for years, and it shows! Her band’s musicianship is on point and they show respect to the original compositions by staying close to them. Her band does a fabulous job (though it’s impossible to replicate the John Bonham magic). This is a very enjoyable and solid tribute to Led Zeppelin.
The vinyl: The translucent orange records play with a fairly low noise floor and spin flat. Mastering wise, it sounds somewhat flat and lacking in that last two tenths for dynamics and tonal colour, sounding somewhat sterile and restrained, giving it that cut from digital sound. As a result, it isn’t as engaging, gritty or “in yer face” as I’d hoped for. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good sounding record, but I was expecting more out of it. I think a hotter cut re-master with someone like; Kevin Gray, Chris Bellman or Steve Hoffman at the helm would really transform this album’s sound. One can only wish! - This woman was the first to not destroy the amazing fire hidden in these compositions, their climate and shine.
That's enough ... to hear it. - It is indeed a very good cover of Led Zeppelin songs. On the other hand I am also a little disappointed that it remained so close to the original and lacks creativity.
- Edited 3 years agoIt's difficult with LZ covers or tributes. I usually consider them superfluous. I love Beth Hart, so I was kind of disappointed she went into that direction. She is such a great voice that I thought it could rather hurt her than benefit to her status as a creative artist. Also the pre-released tracks did not really convince me. Now having been able to listen to the full album, which I bought of course anyways, I have to say, she has done a great job. Although the tracks are not too different from the originals they do have a very individual touch and she is able to make them her own as much as possible. Definitely a worthwhile release.

I am wondering if my expectations are just to high, I pre-ordered and paid for this in Nov 21. I have not received a single message from Mascot since the order confirmation. I did not receive any e-mail today with an offer to download the digital copy they offered with the pre-order. They have had my money for 2 copies of this since Nov 21, is it to much to ask for some communication. My order still says unfulfilled as of today, and no reply from the vendor after a couple e-mails sent. I am not feeling entitled but if I pre-order an album and you have my money for 4 months, I expect the album to arrive at least within the same week it is released, seeing it available at my local shop today when I have not received my copies or some update from Mascot, just irritates me even more! These labels need to be a little more respectful.
