referencing Nero's Soul Party (LP) LBL 83100E
It's 1968. If you were lucky, the company Jag' would be outside on the drive. The new semidetached all decked out in G-Plan and swirly wallpaper. The little lady in mini-skirt and thigh length boots floats around the room with things on sticks - a hedgehog of delights. Her ash blonde hair flicks in slow motion and she smiles knowingly at the assorted guests. Close up shots of jaws in laughter, mouths gauging on food, drink spilling. The music, now becomes apparent. An almost seamless flow of classic soul segueing pre Jive Bunny. The Murano glass bowl on the centre table overflows with car keys - The Jaguar logo is distinct and near the top. The anticipation is stifling....
Enough of this warped 60's dream. Here is Nero once more, the ever smooth operator, taking Soul classics and blending them together. It's all very fine, and very well produced. However, I ask the same questions every time I see a really good cover band, 'If you've got the talent to play this so well, why haven't you written anything original".
Of its' time and a worthy piece of kitsch.
