- DS delivers a completely new toned down lusher more relaxed soft pop-soul groove w/ clear precise unfussy arrangements, emotionally haunting melodies, beautiful orchestrations & her unmistakable gorgeous tones. There isn't a bad track to be found here.
Dusty’s forgotten gem - a perfect late night listening experience. referencing Cameo (LP, Record Store Day, Reissue, Special Edition, Stereo, Gatefold, Blue) 539 773-6
Ok I got my second copy of the new 2023 reissue of Cameo and just like I figured ..... Sounds like a cassette or a 8 track tape doesn't it... They use beside a nice photo of Dusty in blue but the other side is a disturbing give away ... GRT MASTER TAPE .... Well here's one ... https://www.discogs.com/release/8316902-Dusty-Springfield-Cameo/image/SW1hZ2U6NzAwMDczNDc= GRT right and here's another ... https://www.discogs.com/release/21265369-Dusty-Springfield-Cameo ,,,, SO did they use a old cruddy beat up cassette to make this LP or the 8 track.... I mean that's the give away ... The last reissue they showed the reel to reel tape boxes for a real Phillips release of See All Her Faces and it sure sounded a lot better ... even with all the GZ Media gunk in the pressing machines or whatever is making those noises .... So sad that Rhino couldn't just use RTI find the master tape in the ABC Recording Studio in Los Angeles I'm sure the multi track tape and master mix tape is somewhere in California as to where it was recorded here ..... https://www.discogs.com/label/267992-ABC-Recording-Studios https://www.discogs.com/label/12220-ABC-Records ... Someone knows where the tape is ... They should of just used one of two CD's that were both remastered and sounded great from I BELIEVE the master tapes or maybe they were remixed I'm not sure ..... But here are the two CD's I'm talking about .... https://www.discogs.com/release/596526-Dusty-Springfield-Cameo https://www.discogs.com/release/1152479-Dusty-Springfield-Beautiful-Soul-The-ABCDunhill-Collectionreferencing Cameo (LP, Record Store Day, Reissue, Special Edition, Stereo, Gatefold, Blue) 539 773-6
GZ Media has serious problems I'm sorry ... The tape they used was a worn out copy tape sounds disgusting and I must be nuts I returned it for a new one because side two had a white sticky streak that went through the entire side of Two and after trying to clean it off I have a muffed worse scratched muffled noisy poppy crackly side two... I'M DONE WITH GZ MEDIA ... The double LP I bought before that was Costello and Bacharach and yes that sounded a lot better there was still all this noise all over 4 sides for like 90 minutes... GZ Media should be banned and Universal is apparently cheap that they won't use a better pressing company I can think of 5 of them ...referencing Cameo (LP, Record Store Day, Reissue, Special Edition, Stereo, Gatefold, Blue) 539 773-6
Beautiful packaging and blue vinyl, but yes, there is a bit of sibilance. Not only that, but the songs seem slower and in a lower key. Different from what I've always heard on my CD and mp3. Can't believe it was newly mastered at Abbey Road. Not nearly as good as last year's RSD release of SEE ALL HER FACES.referencing Cameo (LP, Record Store Day, Reissue, Special Edition, Stereo, Gatefold, Blue) 539 773-6
Glad to finally get this into my collection, but I've got to think that an original pressing will sound better than this. It's not terrible, the blue vinyl and packaging is nice and I'm glad to have it, but it's also pretty obviously a modern pressing. Not very dynamic sound.referencing Cameo (LP, Record Store Day, Reissue, Special Edition, Stereo, Gatefold, Blue) 539 773-6
My pressing has a lot of surface noise, even after a cleaning. I'd say the pressing is slightly sibilant, as well. Overall not impressed. Waiting to hear if a friend who bought it has had a similar experience.
