If anyone has a copy of disc 1 for sale, I’m on the lookout

A bit thin in the bass department but nothing a small boost can’t fix. The rest of the mastering is on point. Balanced abd and no surface noise to my ear. Favorite OutKast album sounding better that ever.

Similar to other reviews, my two records were warped and suffered from some noise. Mastering wasn’t bad, just the overall quality of press was “off”.

The colour of the label of the current photo that was uploaded to the original release 11 years ago is very pale where in actual fact the actual colour of the original pressing has a yellow colour label. Which is where the confusion about original press or the reissue (https://www.discogs.com/release/17997811-OutKast-ATLiens) has come from. I have a copy of the original press with the exact same run our grooves (Matrix / Runout (Side A runout): 73008-26029-I-SA SPI HFM´96 CSB) with a yellow label which was given to me by a friend who bought it in 1996. There is no version of this with a more pale looking label. The images of the label that was uploaded 11 years ago - I think the colour must have faded either in the photo of the image or in the scan of it. I have uploaded new images of the orignal press label which reflects the actual colour of the labels. I have also uploaded photo of the run out grooves. If your copy matches all of this - then it is an original press. From all the copies I have seen on Popsike - none have the same pale colour labels as the photos uploaded to this page 11 years ago. Hope this all makes sense

Can anyone comment on how to tell apart an original pressing from reissues?

Agree that this pressing of my favorite Outkast album sounds great. I'm particularly pleased that this version came with the comic story included in the original CD booklet, which according to disapointed reviews, was missing from other vinyl releases of the album

Not VMP's best effort by any means. The master sounds compressed and has distortion issues. You can hear the "S's" on top of Andre and Big Boi's voices on certain tracks like Jazzy Belle and Babylon. Not sure if that's partially to do with the actual audio limitations of mastering those particular tracks. (Just an FYI, don't worry about the crackle you hear on Mainstream. That's part of the music.)

As for the pressing, my copy at least has some crackles, even after a wet cleaning. Classic GZ warp with both discs as well. None of the reported non-fill issues with the C/D disc, however.

I also didn't realize that the original CD release came with a comic illustration, so with that missing from this issue it definitely leaves things to be desired for an "exclusive" pressing.

My favorite Outkast album and a very good VMP Hip-Hop release apart from the issues with Disc 2 which VMP fixed easily for everyone. Top!
