Notes
Screaming for Vengeance is the eighth studio album by British heavy metal band Judas Priest. It was recorded at Ibiza Sound Studios, Ibiza, Spain and mixed at Beejay Recording Studios and Bayshore Recording Studios in Coconut Grove, Florida. It was released on 17 July 1982, with a remastered CD version released in May of 2001. As of the album's 30th anniversary in 2012, it remains the top selling release of Judas Priest's career.
Screaming for Vengeance reached No. 11 in the UK and No. 17 on Billboard 200 Pop Albums. It went gold (RIAA) on 29 October 1982, platinum on 18 April 1983, and 2x platinum on 16 October 2001, being the band's first album to achieve the two latter awards. This album includes the hit single "You've Got Another Thing Comin'", a song which still receives regular airplay on classic rock radio to this day.
The album came 15th on IGN's 25 most influential metal albums. Screaming for Vengeance also came 10th on Metal-Rules.com's 100 greatest metal albums. Kerrang! magazine listed the album at No. 46 among the "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time".
During the U.S. tour to support the album in 1982, Judas Priest were supported by bands such as Iron Maiden, Krokus, and Uriah Heep (in support of their album Abominog).
The album's most successful track, You've Got Another Thing Comin', was a last minute addition. According to guitarist K.K. Downing, "We were quite happy with the album but decided late on that we could add one more song. I know we had some of the parts but we set about completing "Another Thing Comin'" during the mixing sessions at Bee Jay studios. It came together quite quickly and I seem to remember that we all had a good feeling about it as it did sound like a good driving song and possibly a good radio track."

- Very happy with the audio quality on this reissue. The sleeve looks great. The vinyl on my brand new copy looks strangely cloudy, but plays perfectly with no surface noise.
- Actually good pressing, everything bright and clear, just really heavy on the bass so I had to lower it significantly.
- I think this is a good sounding and well mastered pressing. Very crankable and doesn’t distort. The louder it sounds the better it gets. I had the MoFi but this sounds better to my ears, it just has more snap and attack. The MoFi was nice but it’s like the edges are rounded off.

Being a MoFi release, I expected a little more. It’s not a bad press but not a great press. It has decent dynamics, but feels like Glenn and K.K.’s guitars seem are a little dull, the mix kinda took the edge off being more focused on vocals and rhythm section compared to other presses. Again still rips, but could have more teeth. Definitely not worth what people are asking, don’t pay more than $40 for it.

The best sounding picture disc I've heard. Which isn't saying much, but still...- Edited 4 months agoVery nice pressing - loud/punchy..not muddy at all. Mix is good - somewhat compressed to my ears, but clear and good highs and lows. Happy with this one overall though.
- The recording is excellent, but... the first track on side 2 has very intrusive clicks for 40 seconds
It's a pity! I bought the sealed edition. There are no visible defects
Unfortunately a manufacturing defect! - Edited 2 months agoPretty good album. But I had to push treble a bit, because the record lacks a bit of higher tones. Also the record varies in loudness. More or less randomly.
- The sound is brilliant on this, but there’s a lot of skipping on bloodstone with my copy. I don’t have an original copy to compare this to but with the skipping on bloodstone I have to give this 3 stars
- The '83 US Festival DVD is a gem. Most concert footage this old does not hold up in terms of video resolution, but this absolutely does. Comparable to the Stones' "Let's Spend the Night Together" which was a feature film.
