The first song on the second side, Hey Joe, the record noise is intentional, it’s on the digital version too, meant to make it sound old.

Hoping one day that the Sparklehorse catalog is treated nicely by a different label. I also cannot believe what these Plain reissues are being sold for! With that being said, I keep this pressing around for nostalgia and not necessarily listening. And that's some goofy stuff, I tells ya! I want the best of both worlds! My copy is at least playable which is more than the lot of you have been saying. Yikes.

Just to clear up any confusion, the negative reviews below reference the 2011 Plain Records reissue. This 1998 original pressing on Parlophone is GLORIOUS. EMI Records in-house pressings were always high quality and this is no exception - the sonics and mastering are beautiful and give the album the breathing space it requires. Good Morning Spider is a masterpiece and although the original pressing is expensive, if you love the album then it's very much worth it.

Not an audiophile but I’m happy with my copy.. no noticeable surface noise, pops or clicks. Fantastic album.

The wretched and abysmal PLAIN Recordings screws the almighty pooch once again with another poorly pressed classic album that sounds gutted and muted. It is an absolute crime against music that labels like Plain and Music On Vinyl are allowed to get their greedy, grubby mitts on such wonderful albums that deserve far more care and respect than either of these bootleg labels could ever offer.

Eh. Better than the Plain pressing of It's a Wonderful Life (which curiously doesn't include all of the original tracks), but still...not stellar. Sure beats skipping your grocery bill for an original pressing. If you absolutely must have it on vinyl this is at least cheap, but I cannot in good conscience ever recommend anything from Plain. I've sold every Plain pressing I've ever purchased. What a legacy having your product end up in the bargain used bin just days after purchase! I wish I could cuss without reprimand on Discogs. Plain deserves it. I could invent an entire lexicon of new and supremely vile cuss words for the folks at Plain.

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

Utterly dreadful pressing, not even an improvement over streaming Spotify! A lumpen sonic mush!

Acquired the latest Plain pressing. Still poor. Noisy. Poor dynamics. Muted textures. What a disappointment.

Poor pressing - jumping around all over the place at the start of side 1, with a visible defect from end of side into runout groove

Not a great pressing. As to be expected with Plain Recordings, this version is noticeably poor quality even to an amateur audiophile. It's sad to say, but don't bother buying this one.
