Sonic Youth – NYC Ghosts & Flowers

Excelente sonido y excelente álbum.
Lo mejor de SY está aquí. Una verdadera joya noise y Avant Garde. Muy infravalorado por los fans.
Para mí, el mejor después de Sisters y Daydream Nation.

Para mí, el mejor disco de Sonic Youth. Una belleza absoluta. Poco valorado por la industria.

Side B of this record is probably the best they ever did... Keyboards, samplers and trumpet! // I don't understand why they didn't do anything like that again.

The last really great SY album. Not that the stuff after this one is bad, there are some great tracks on the next two albums, but it largely feels like SY going through the SY motions. Huge departure from the acid laced Grateful Deadesque explorations of the previous..
I feel this a throw back to their earlier experimental sound but far more mature and polished. Definitely has some free form moments encompassing ambient, noise, rock, electronics on a fully avant-garde trip. As period changes in SY has often been polarizing and causing some fans to jump ship, I can understand why some people aren’t into this one as it is a challenging listen but I fail to see why it is consistently panned and placed last on best lists. Quintessential and very underrated listen for fans of earlier albums or post millennium SYR releases

There's a (live) bootleg out there - Sonic Jazz - which captures the essence of this record much better, in my opinion. Despite there are only 3 tracks off of this album featured, they are probably among the standouts - and the longest jams they played that night in Montreux. It's a great recording and I'm sure it's somewhere online for all to enjoy (or I hope so, at least).

Hi is it the same mastering with the US version?

I have a few of SY's reissues from recent years, and they've generally been pretty decent. I don't know what happened with this one, but this is a truly terrible pressing. VERY loud surface noise throughout (cleaning doesn't help at all), and this really isn't an album that can get away with it. Barely listenable. Steer well clear.

Does this US repress include insert with lyrics and pictures?

not as good album as "A 1000 Leaves" or "Murray Street", but it has some pretty nice songs like "Free City Rhymes", "Renegade Princess", "Nevermind (WWIA)" and of course the song that titled the entire album - "NYC Ghosts & Flowers".
