Agree this is a nice pressing, very quiet overall with just a few pops without having cleaned, and very dynamic mastering. Music builds slowly, side A very minimal and ambient while side B gets very dynamic and slightly dissonant before returning full cycle to the intro chords that start side A.

Can't compare with the first edition, but this is a pretty nice pressing. My copy came a little bit dirty from the factory with some minor pops and clicks during the first 10 mins of side A.

        Side B is flawless.

Kali Malone's music is incredible, highly recommended to any drone/ambient aficionados.

Listen, I know that CDs should be your first choice when you are allergic to background noise and clicks. I am not one of those people: regardless, it needs to be said that this record on vinyl sounds in parts like a campfire and that’s annoying as hell. Plus, that’s not „normal“ (unless you want your vinyl to sound like a well worn second hand copy). My point is that vinyl can sound a lot better if done properly - the pressing plant did not do a good job here (for the record: I am not complaining about engineering, mastering, mixing, the pressing itself, whatever. My comment is about Quality Control). My record was covered with fine dust in the groove and had loads of tiny cuts on the surface (which you cannot „wipe“ away and which is not the same as „static“) and I ultrasonically cleaned the thing twice before playing and still, it pops and clicks all over both sides and surface noise is very dominant over the course of the first minutes. It’s the same with the first press and the repress. So in case you consider purchasing this on vinyl: think twice, you might not be very happy with this one.

Adding that the repress is $30 shipped directly from the label and $40 on bandcamp to the US.

FYI : First pressing and second pressing of the LP are 100% identical

Represses of Living Torch (both vinyl and CD) available at Kali's bandcamp.

It's like doom metal by bands such as Nadja played without using guitars (the theme in the second track in particular). Heavy and overwhelming stuff. Great experience.

The surface noise on mine is horrific, I'm talking pops and crackles all the way through on both sides. Really makes it unlistenable to be honest

My copy is just great! It’s absolute not true that GRM vinyl releases are bad, they have incredible musicians/engineers working on this press, so please stop saying bulls**t. If you have a bit of static just clean your record for God’s sake, it’s an analogue format and it’s normal. Otherwise just buy a CD which is great anyway!

There are so many sad comment about the pressing quality... Why is every one so crazy about vinyl beyond any good sense ? I must say i bought both versions of this beautiful record, vinyl and CD.

It is pretty obvious : CD sounds way better !

The vynil quality is ok, but after a few listening small clics start to occur, because the vinyl quality is not that great
And we loose a part of the phenomenal frequencies of the composition.

And yes, once again, the CD sounds way better...
