Andreya Triana made a huge splash with her sultry vocals on Bonobo's BLACK SANDS, and here on her solo debut, LOST WHERE I BELONG, Bonobo returns for production duties (with an occasional assist from Fink). But the album is more than just BLACK SANDS, PT. 2, despite the xylophone trappings and bass of "Draw The Stars"; instead, Triana's soulful vocals take center stage, even on the more folksy and stripped down title track. The songs here are more concise, like on the horn-drenched soul of "A Town Called Obsolete" or the more sedate strums on "Darker Than Blue." A quiet sadness slides its way onto "Daydreamers," while "Far Closer" indulges in the sweet funk, strings and all. A hint of Brazil shimmies across "Something In The Silence," and a smooth jazz rules the day on "Up In Fire." The final track, "X," closes the album on a delicate note, giving Triana just the right place to which to belong.
