Cream (2) – Heavy Cream

Cut by Bob Ludwig at Sterling, this is probably the best you're gonna hear this band sound. Nice pressing.

Very completist. I would’ve cut most of the blues-rock and experimental stuff, which must’ve been new at the time but just sounds undercooked now, and stuffed one disc with Disraeli Gears material and the classic-rock radio hits: “Badge,” “White Room,” “I Feel Free,” “Sunshine of Your Love,” “SWLABR,” and the rest of the well-written songs that really sound like them. The mixes alternate oddly at times, between loud Clapton and quiet Baker (“Badge,” “Passing the Time”) and boosting Baker at Clapton’s expense (“White Room,” “I Feel Free,” “I’m So Glad”), though most tracks sound balanced.

HEAVY CREAM is all the Cream I need. Comprehensive double LP compilation with pretty good sound for the most part. My copy plays nice and clean, with occasional faint surface noise.

This looks like Singaporean/Malaysian pressing. The label copyright notice reads from right to left and is inverted.

My copy has "T" and "-2D" in the runout, followed by the name "J Garfield" on sides 2 and 4.

I found a copy in good shape with RL on all four sides. Sound is OK to pretty good. A good way to get a bunch of Cream on vinyl for a decent price.

I have a white label promo version in stereo.
No complaints, sounds fine to me. The Polydor pressings catch some crap as far as sound goes. Ludwig mastered, it's punchy in spots, compressed in others.....who cares. It's the tunes that count.

Entire contents also issued as a single 8-track cartridge (in unique hybrid red-and-black shell), though my copy is showing playback tracking issues (due to thin tape?).
