i bought the cd, when the album came out, i liked it, but heard it only few times.
i gave it another try now and was not sooo impressed. yes, it is nice and atmospheric background music, but not much more for me. musical it is little boring, no surprises....it is kind of ambient music with some dub techno elements, in both fields there are more interesting reckords.
by the way, i love dub techno, but for me a lot of the offerings are kind of clones of the basic channel output and sound similiar.

" polar sequences" by biosphere& higher intelligence agency is more ambient and also a more interesting record....
the rhythm of snow is nice, but not much innovative or original, there is a lot of music, that sounds similiar.

Glacial and emotional. Makes you feel at home with the tundra.

beautiful record - dreamlike tones, enveloping washes of pads and barely-there feather light drums in places to push things along, gently. this collection of tracks is something akin to walking through gentle snow with a light breeze that ebbs and flows.

"Easy" to put the sound of rain in an album, but the snow one, so light ? First time I was comparing as I do not with my stupidity.

Maybe Rigning will stay as my favorite as first discover and so incredibly realistic.

But here I see me walking in Tundra. Here things are colder.

Maybe more a challenge for Yagya to work on snow.

                  ∆lsome. <3

Corrected track listings on the back have been made. I have a case that that has Snowflake 1-10 listed, and what an amazing list it is. Hearing this record for the first time it's so much more pure ambient than Rigning or The Inescapable Decay of My Heart which often use a lot of the same beat. Nice fresh chill record this. After having bought it, and listening for the first time on my drive home through the mountains, the snow flurries began to fall, true story!

Yagya made a big splash -- if one can splash in sub-arctic temperatures -- with RHYTHM OF SNOW. The album wears its dub techno influences proudly: "Snowflake 1" is all about the background crackle and the long, sustained chords. And while the individual tracks don't differ greatly from one another, the cumulative effect of the album is akin to being snowed in; the deep, resonant tones, the beats fluttering by like drifts, the build-up of ice. "Snowflake 4" starts to sparkle a little more, and "Snowflake 5" almost sounds perky by comparison. The beat of "Snowflake 8" seems to emanate from the heart of a melting glacier, and by "Snowflake 9," the beat has broken off and disappeared into the Arctic Ocean. The slow float of "Snowflake 6," though, stands out in particular for its lovely, lush chord progression, which is reprised in "Snowflake 10," though the melody is more filtered. A lovely album that stands up to the hype.

This seems to be a love-it-or-think-it's-mediocre kind of release, and unfortunately I have to side with the latter camp. It's very pretty -- it's excellent background or introspective music -- but it's not an earth-shattering dub/ambient techno release by any stretch. Comparing Yagya to Basic Channel is a bit of a mistake, since Basic Channel set the bar high for every dub techno artist that followed them, but there are certainly better and more immersive dub techno albums out there, especially in the post-2000 crowd. So while I would still recommend that any fan of chill/downtempo/dub/ambient music should check this album out, please don't spend 500 EUR (!!!) on it. Listen to it on Grooveshark and decide for yourself; at the very least you'll have a nice experience, and hey, you might even fall in love with the album if the mood is right.
