Underworld – Barking

the one misstep in their entire catalogue. no one else should ever produce an underworld track aside from underworld.

Loved every track on this record. Chill enough to listen to over and over but buzzy enough to get those goosebumps. Really positive record.

I just do not understand all the negative comments. This is a cracking album. Give it a couple of plays.

Hated it at first, now I find "Always loved a film" the top heavingly moment of all their live shows. I even ended up enjoying Scribble. This is their attempt at being totally commercial, and it sure worked this way. On the other hand this opened a bit of a fringe between them. In any way, an always interesting and sometimes very beautiful and optimistic album.

This is hands down one of their best albums. Bird 1's melody is stunning, the synth is stunning. All of it. It's so good. I urge everyone to get it!

The album in instrumental form is absolutely great.
I must admit I listen to the instrumental version more often than the regular album!

I really like the bonus disc of alternate versions, and the book has track-by-track write ups of the collaborations. Interesting and well worth the upgrade - it's an undervalued album.

My copy features a sticker promoting a Limited Edition Box-Set with two CDs, a DVD and a booklet - Basically it seems this is incorrectly placed on the cover. Anyone else having this?

Underworld is back with another winner. The sound may be a little less diverse than previous albums - most tracks are designed strictly for the club - but that is not a bad thing, because it's Underworld at the helm after all. Barking is one step further into that nebulous realm of progressive, techy goodness that only Underworld can pull off. Their sound, as usual, continues to incorporate newer influences and styles, and on Barking especially, it sounds like they were listening to a lot of progressive house at the time. Almost all of these tracks are mixable, incredibly well produced, and undeniably Underworld. I think this is a fantastic addition to their catalog and I for one welcome the more straightforward approach they took on this album.
