I am very happy with this pressing. Thank you, Phonoluxe!referencing Lisbon (LP, Album) Bellav260
Additional note: if you were one of the first 50 people who pre-ordered this album on fat possum records online, then you got an additional lisbon album cover poster (~10"x10") all signed by the band.referencing Lisbon (LP, Album) FP1228-1
Fantastic pressing and also a brilliant album....it may need a few listens as I did on my shitty commute to work realising i am now part of the rat race which i detested...i eventually got out of my situation this album and many more got me through...love it.- Minimal surface noise throughout for my copy. The b-sides are a bit flatter and "hissier" when it comes to dynamic parts, but that probably reflects them not getting a "master" mastering like the album tracks did. Interesting choice of silver (more soft grey) for the records, given the album atmosphere is so light, bright and airy. Mine has two fine black streaks on the record that do not affect the sound.
If there is one, my only gripe comes out of confusion: for an album that is getting a load of b-sides reissued along with it, why were two of the absolute standout tracks left off? "Dubai Bye" and "Dirty Love" are by far my favourites from the Lisbon sessions, performances and recordings so evidently inspired, dynamic and hypnotizing that they are both now top Walkmen songs for me overall. However, they did not make the cut.
To the band and Fat Possum: please consider a 7-inch of Lisbon Sessions songs that (for whatever reason) were excluded here. They are deserving of PVC immortalization. I'd even make it worth your while and buy two.
The most interesting of the garage/retro throwback indie bands of the 2000s, their whole discography will continue to resonate. referencing Lisbon (LP, Album) FP1228-1
Why is this recording is soooooo quiet? Is this the case for others?- My copy is nice and clean sounding. Flat and quiet pressing. I was worried when I saw some folks talking about surface noise, but perhaps it's a crapshoot? Perhaps it's time to change our styli? I'm using a modest/middle of the road set up too. Best of luck out there people! I hope the You & Me pressing is better for everyone.
- My copy has minor noise on the beginning of a1 and a few clicks (again, minor) on c4--noted elsewhere. My disc 1 also has a slight warp to it (that does not affect play). None of this detracts from the sound though, which is so much better, deeper than the Lisbon copy I already had (FP1228-1). That alone makes this worthwhile for me, even without the b-sides!
- Edited 2 years agoMy copy mostly sounds great, with a hardly detectable bit of surface noise on the first track of each side. That said, not seeing a download card on the sleeve for the first record. Anyone else in the same boat? I already have 3 of the bonus tracks, but wouldn't mind having the other 3 in digital format.
- how does this copy sound? wondering if the Bella Union edition of this one is pressed at a different plant than the US deluxe edition, which is very poorly done.
- distractingly noisy on a1, b1, c1, d1 as previously noted. my copy also has a loud recurring click on throughout c4, among other issues. appreciate having the great bonus tracks, but this is a super disappointing "deluxe" treatment of a record that deserves better!
