- Edited one year agoBeautiful. I haven't enjoyed a DeepChord album this much since Hash-Bar Loops. However, this is a much different sound - deeper, cleaner and less of the typical dub techno imprint.
The sound is alive and continues to evolve. - Great album and very nice pressing. The copy I got anyway is flat as you like and super clean. Nice to know these types of presses still exist.
Get it direct from the label for £18. Significantly cheaper than everywhere else has it. - Love what rod does with music and the warmth n soul he has added to the imho cold (in terms of vibration) basic channel dub techno template.i loved reading his interview about his positive vibrational approach to frequency which he picked up from Michael mantra (sadly now passed away) . I have most of his LP output.regarding this LP, cd and 12" variants ...lots of high grade tracks to sit back into and enjoy the depth BUT I have to also say it as fantastic as it is sounds it feels rather like rod on formula, creating the magic he does but not stepping outside of his comfort zone....correct me if I'm wrong but sounds like the same drum patterns from many previous releases, similar melodic or textural sonics (which are detailed, lovely subtle and evolving for sure 🙏) therefore to me feels like it is not a distinct release artistically and personally from reading interviews with him about his creative insights I come away expecting more explorative creations that push himself and his sound further. Said with the utmost love and admiration for rod and his creations
- Edited 2 years agoSomber feeling album. It feels much more sad and haunted than his past stuff. Especially with titles like "Darkness Falls", "Strangers", "Memories". The tone is a perfect fit for Deepchord's style.
Home run release. The pressing is great, sorta swallows you in its atmosphere. Had little to no issues with it. Presentation is stellar too, that dark blue and orange artwork is so pleasing!
My only BIG complaint was the packaging it was shipped in. When I got it, I heard some shifting around in the package. And when I opened, there was a dent on the top left of the album cover : / Not a huge deal, everything else was fine, no reason to replace it. But I wish for more secure packaging in the future. Sorta annoying to see that on a brand new record.
Otherwise, highly recommend it and get it ASAP! - Another beautiful album by Rod Modell. Soft and dreamy, excellent for both active listening or simply chilling. No complaints - solid 5 stars and possibly Album of the year for me.
- Edited one year agoI know it's too early to say stuff like this but....this is one of the best Deepchord releases ever. I mean, literally every damn track on the 2xLP is good. ♥ ...that being said, it has a specific feel to me, sort of a bittersweet nostalgic feel to it. IDK though.....it's a tough emotion to pinpoint whatever it is but it's nice.
