"Introspective" is Pet Shop Boys' third studio album and fourth long player, released on 10 October 1988 in the UK.
The album features a mix of original songs ("Left To My Own Devices", "Domino Dancing"), cover versions ("Always On My Mind", originally performed by Elvis Presley, "It's Alright", originally performed by Sterling Void & Paris Brightledge) and new versions of Pet Shop Boys' songs, either previously released as B-side ("I Want A Dog", from Rent) or given to other acts ("I'm Not Scared', Eighth Wonder).
The album was reissued in 2001 with a second disc of bonus material as part of the Further Listening series.

If you can find a complete intact copy then what a unique release to have in your library. I think these pressings sound quite nice & pure, but as always it’s depending on so many factors: media condition, audio equipment, your ears etc. Definitely worth owning for the package alone.

Parlophone recordings tend to be great in general and they take a lot of care with their vinyl (unlike say Rhino with the terrible Depeche Mode reissue quality). I've always been a fan of this era of Pet Shop Boys, and Introspective ranks among my very favorites. Its one of those albums I owned on cassette back in the day then later on CD and finally now on vinyl. Knowing every note, beat, and blip by heart, you can imagine how I would scrutinize this recording. Not only does it not disappoint, rather it actually sounds better than I ever remembered. If you like the music, highly recommended.

Direct comparison with the original UK vinyl https://www.discogs.com/release/58656-Pet-Shop-Boys-Introspective and original CD: This timtom cut sounds the best of the three to me, but only by a slight margin. All 3 are very close, with this LP being slightly smoother in the top end compared with the original vinyl, and more high-res than the CD (bandwidth to 48k+).

As others have said, reissues are often not as good as the original press. Tim Young did - not surprisingly - an excellent job on all these PSB reissues.

The original press is very good, but the 2018 smooths out the top end just enough; no loss in clarity, but a little less edge. The original CD also sounds excellent; neither vinyl LP is a revelation by comparison, just a more high-res presentation.

Six glorious New Wave-Techno-House music gems w/ throbbing beat bass lines laying the foundation for an epic dance groove. Add for good measure huge soaring orchestration, clever (if a little silly) lyrical themes & colourful exquisite melodic & rhythmic textures.
Grooves along from start to finish from a classic 80's group in their prime.
