The DVD content will no longer load. These discs are defective and they are not replacing them. Buyer beware!- Best digital version of this amazing album, I don't think It could be bettered
The nearest digital version to this IMHO is the original blue face CD - Edited 26 days ago

This MoFi release of A Trick of the Tail brings a refined and immersive listening experience, though it comes with its own sonic character. The mastering leans slightly heavy in the midrange, which can make the overall tonal balance feel a touch sharper than some listeners might expect. However, this emphasis doesn’t detract from the clarity—in fact, one of the great strengths of this pressing is the superb instrument separation, with each layer of the mix standing in its own space. Tony Banks’ keyboards and Steve Hackett’s guitar, in particular, shine with a remarkable presence, giving the record an added depth and showcasing just how integral their playing was to the Genesis sound of this era. Overall, it’s a presentation that may not be the most neutral, but it’s one that rewards close listening with texture, detail, and musicality. - This album has always been a favourite of mine but the vinyl audio has always been quiet. This is rectified on this SACD and it brings a very clear mix and dynamic. It seems to lack a bit of richness and tonal warmth to my ears but it is an improvement and perhaps this is as good as it gets.
Edited one month agonot much of a fan after Gabriel left, but i do really enjoy about half of the tracks on this LP. i dont have any other pressings to compare to (well, i also have a Specialty pressing, but seeing as theyre pulled from the same mothers, in theory there should be no difference in quality), but my copy in hand has good depth and clarity and punches when it needs to. the cheap vinyl does add some light surface noise here and there in the quieter parts. but overall it sounds pretty good to my ears!!referencing A Trick Of The Tail (2×12", 45 RPM, Album, Limited Edition, Numbered, Reissue, Stereo, 180g) APA 073-45
Is anyone finding a filmy residue on their copies, taken right out of the inner sleeves? I’ve experienced this situation with both this album and the Atlantic 75 edition of “Selling England by the Pound.” A spin clean/Ultrasound clean/second spin clean/spin rinse procedure brought “Selling England by the Pound” to life, sound quality wise. I suspect this one (which sounds great on Side 1 and possibly Side 4, and decent on the other two) will also benefit likewise from such a treatment.

Vocals still a bit too much in the background but better separated than my other pressings.
More low-end, details further defined. Great soundstage - thunderous drums
Details are there i didn't hear before- massive soundstage in dance with a volcano
Much quieter pressing- gentle songs like Entangled not distracted by pops and crackles - some pops which i suspect will drop off after a few more listens and cleaning with anti static brush
Vocals are there in squonk and drums solidly in the mix where they belong
Odd drop off in levels during instrument section of Robbery assault still there -
Great album, and a great pressing. I have heard that the American Atco doesn’t always sound great but you usually can’t go wrong with the Monarch plant. Detailed and dynamic.referencing A Trick Of The Tail (LP, Album, Deluxe Edition, Reissue, Remastered, Stereo, 180 Gram) R1 187964
So.... i own both the older black and newer yellow vinyl remix reissues. I enjoy the remix via the DSD layer on the counterpart SACD. But this remix sounds godawful on vinyl. The EQ is tilted even further into the treble and presence region and cymbals splash unnaturally away with sibilance galore as well. Its hot - but acceptable - on the SACD but its just unpleasant at times on these vinyl editions. I will say of the two the black copy has far less noise and is far nicer packaged with higher quality textured jacket of better colour repro. The yellow one i would avoid unless collecting is a priority over listening.referencing A Trick Of The Tail (LP, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, Repress, Yellow, 180g, Gatefold) RCV1 187964
