Notes

She's So Unusual is the debut studio album by American singer and songwriter Cyndi Lauper, recorded May–August 1983 and released on October 14, 1983, by Portrait. The album was re-released in 2014 to commemorate its 30th anniversary, and was called She's So Unusual: A 30th Anniversary Celebration. The re-release contains demos and remixes of previously released material, as well as new artwork.

It's clean and punchy until it isn't. The insides of both sides have sibilance. It's '80s vinyl. Take it or leave it!

My pressing sounds remarkably flat, the bass is quite clear and detailed but it's not 'Bassy', which is weird because I remember it sounding quite so...

Not gonna comment on the music because alot has already been said but this is truly one of those albums which belong in the highest category of 80s pop albums

imagine it can sound better since this pressing isn't really hitting me like I think it should. And it being Cyndi's debut I want her voice to send chills down my spine in a goddess kinda way and this pressing isn't doing it. Any thoughts?

I corrected from 5 to 4 star. 5 should go US/JP originals and MOFI. But this is fairly good.

I don’t remember why I got this because I don’t like coloured vinyl and illustrated cover art. Good thing is, pressing quality is beyond expectation. Sound compensate for everything.

Good sounding record.
Initially I thought why so poor recording but then I tried most streaming services and realised the recording is such .
Mofi couldn’t do much to it when the original recording wasn’t too great .
But for what it’s worth is a good sounding pressing.

Mofi have just released a new batch of this after it had been sold out for a while. Apparently on the new releases, the back of the sleeve confirms that this is an AAA record cut directly from a safety tape. This info was not on the sleeve of previous releases.

Was this an AAA record all along, or it is only the new releases that are AAA?

Aside from being a historic album this pressing is just stellar. Treble is crisp. Bass is voluminous. Space in the soundstage. Sounds as good as the day I walked out of the shop in the 80s.

great sound quality with that lovely cyndi lauper trademark voice . never tried the new mofi version but this Japanese copy is just clean and balanced sound . get this copy if you can find , no regrets :)
