- This is hardcore as it's supposed to be! "Original Bad Boy" is awesome, featuring a super catchy piano riff to contrast with the no-nonsense stabs and bass. "Step Up General" goes hard with the breaks and ragga vibes, with distinctly sped-up vocals and some nice stab sequences. "Ruff" is okay but it does go on a bit, however the other two tracks are absolutely slamming! (pun unintended)
- B side ''Step Up General'' is way off center pressed playing very elliptic. What a shame as it is a classic breakbeat track.
Does anyone have the same issue? - This version with the glitch can be heard on Ellis Dee at Fantazia - The Showcase, 27 Nov 92.
The record was later recut on the A side without the problem. - Edited 3 years agothe chords from the original bad boy track are covered from another earlier track (1992) i think it might be this https://www.discogs.com/Hyper-Go-Go-High/release/35429
- ruff is the tune that usually gets played but i love step up general - the pressings a bit shit but my copy isnt in the best shape anyways, but oh my god the flip's a tune
- I love the sound of this ep,cut loud and roughly mix down, ruff is one of my all time favourite hardcore tracks, lucky for me it just didn’t go away, smashed on pirate and in clubs for at least 6 months,so that says something about this ep.
referencing Original Bad Boy (12", 33 ⅓ RPM, 45 RPM) RAR 002
Step Up General is possibly one of tyhe worst EQ'd tracks I've ever heard! So bad in fact I always wondered was it supposed to be like that? 25 years on and I've decided, NO! I'm speaking out ... Which is devastating becasue if it wasn't so distorted it would be a proper banger!
Ruff! always did it for me though - played by Ellis Dee @ Fantazia NYE 1992, proper tour de force of Hardcore badness!
