Edited 3 years agoreferencing Live At Last! (LP, Album) CHR 1199
I love this album. I had it first on vinyl back in the late 70s, replaced it with a hard-to-source CD and have now re-bought the vinyl. It's a superb example of just how good SS really could be when performing live. The standout track is of course "Montrose", telling its tale of the Marquess' fateful support of Charles I in England's Civil War. Dance tunes are also to the fore and the standard of performance is never short of impeccable.

The music in the middle of "False Knight on the Road" (before Maddy returns to sing the last part of the song) is a Morris tune called "Monk's March" that John Kirkpatrick, Martin Carthy and others recorded for the album John Kirkpatrick With Sue Harris • Martin Carthy • Martin Brinsford • Fi Fraser - Plain Capers - Morris Dance Tunes From The Cotswolds in 1976.
