- I bought a copy of this release on blue vinyl and was disappointed with the quality. (I seem to remember there being more surface noise than I could tolerate.) Now I've bought a copy on black vinyl, and--as others have said--the pressing is pretty much immaculate. Long live Yo La Tengo!
Edited one year agoMany stores in Europe sell a different version but claim to be selling this one. Second line "17-19 Alma Rd London..." underneath the barcode on the rear cover side? Check this version instead: Yo La Tengo - This Stupid World which only has 14 entries as an owner yet. As of: April 18, 2024.
I already have the blue vinyl. But, why is this listed as Special Cut?
Fantastic release. The color looks gorgeous and just like every yo la tengo album I’ve purchased, this one sounds great. Also the weird hidden track instrumental is so cool, it’s bizarre but extremely YLT, so I love it. Overall a top notch release that gets better with every listen, and I’d say it’s for certain one of their best in a catalog loaded with amazing albums!
Outstanding sounding record, not a single pop or background noise between songs. Probably album of the year.

Really like this album. For the most part I agree with the comments above/below, but I have some weird "shaking" sounds during track B1, almost like rotational pops but honestly almost sound more like a sugar shaker! Anyone else experiencing anything similar? I re-listened to the CD version/digital track to confirm that the sound definitely isn't there in the background- Edited 2 years agoRanks up there with their very best work! Each tune reveals more and more details, and the feel is fresh and brilliant. “Fallout” is easily one of their greatest songs ever, what a killer tune! Also recommend listening to it on a nice set of headphones, I’m catching sneaky little sonic details that seems missed when on my speakers. They’re a treasure and one of the world’s greatest bands ever.
- The lock groove at the end of side two is a nice touch that you don't get on CD or digital.
Very good pressing and beautiful double blue vinyl with nicely printed inner sleeves.
