"Play the tune, man", you here this so often when reharmonizing is at its peak and you don't here the melody anymore. How far can you go as a Jazzer? There is a fine line between staying in the song and build your own version on the other side. Mehldau has the knowledge and the taste to do this. I like the result, being a Jazz musician myself and also had my own Beatles project.

Brad Mehldau is a fantastic pianist, maybe the best of his generation, but these are pretty banal classical muzak versions of Beatles songs. It's fine, but I don't find it particularly innovative or interesting. The record, that I got anyway, was flat and sounded nice.

The musical performance and enjoyment is fabulous. It is always an insult to the artist to deliver his/her art work on poor pressings. Mine has a broken edge and is full of distortions all over. The quality of the (yet, and maybe for good reason, unknown) pressing plant is as non-existent as their quality control. Artists should also take more responsibility and get involved in the quality of the media their music is presented on to their target listeners. Let’s hope for some luck with replacements. Music/Sound = 4 out of 5. Pressing = 1 out of 5.
