I’ll be straight up … great album for sure ! They stick to there dreamy rock driven repertoire.. But the gold edition vinyl lets it down with back ground noise and mild warping .Ok people can look over this but with the price of $76 Australian dollars !!! I’m using a Nagaoka jet-80 special edition cart with a Devialet Expert 200 . I have plenty of color vinyl that has been pressed well but this from Communicating Vessels does not hit the spot … I’m sure this will sound fine on a medium system but for others a mp3 will be better .

Nice sounding record. Impressed w/ the mastering here-clear and defined.

No Marty, no exactly is this "The Church"? What a fucking joke.

It's taken a few plays to get under my skin. I liked it from the off but didn't think it was one of their best. I was wrong, it is a wonderful record that repays repeat listens. If you have the chance to see them perform large amounts of it live, go! They are even better on stage. A terrific record and a great, great band.

Sounds really nice. Not too different than the digital version but seems a bit brighter with more air between instruments. My purple copy sounds quiet and is totally flat.

I too approached The Hypnogogue with trepidation given both Marty AND Peter are now gone, leaving only Steve and Tim as the longest standing members. However, those feelings have been permanently dashed having heard this new album in full many times and seeing 3/4ths of it performed live in 2023. This is easily the best Church album since Uninvited or After Everything. The Hypnogogue is an absolute beauty. So lush, and with all the wonderful moods and textures you’d expect from The Church and more. I love it so much I had to get it on vinyl and it sounds absolutely amazing on this black wax version. This new lineup of The Church (3 guitarists!!) is stellar and proves that the evolution of a band, even without its beloved original members, can breath new life into the project and The Hypnogogue is solid proof of this. Don’t miss them live during this current incarnation. They’re on fire.

Quite simply their greatest moment - an essential piece of art and music

If this is meant to come with an insert or print, mine is without haha! Anyone else?

I have the 2LP Black pressing. Sounds fantastic after a RCM douche. The Church will forever harness the ability to sound like early 80's psychedelic music. Absolutely timeless and engaging tunes. Only complaint is white paper inners..... Nicely mastered and quiet.
