      "JERK IT"

This record is worth it for that song alone. Hilarious.

Bitches the outstanding track here. What a bassline!

This is a great release. I made a trip down to Fat Cat Records in London from Glasgow in 1995 and picked up a few tunes and this was one of them. The journey was worth it!

On the B side Jerk It is a fine piece of tracky Chicago Techno and stills sounds fresh today. But the one here for me is The Original Video Clash II (Street Mix). I am a huge fan of the original Lil Louis version on Dancemania but its pretty slow and difficult to fit into a reasonably paced Techno set. On this version, he hasn't just speeded it up, but he has altered the structure, introduced some new elements, and made it into a Classic of its own.

This is an absolute must for fans of Dj Funk, or anyone that digs Lil Louis's Original Videoclash. Brilliant.

Before the birth of his own imprint Funk Records, DJ Funk was releasing some of his most classic and sought after material on Dance Mania. DJ Funk has always been one of the more inventive Chicago booty trax producers evidenced by the nuber of times his samples resurface in the productions of others, and this release only furthers that reputation. Half of this record is dedicated to sped up remixes of the Lil' Louis classic "Video Clash", with Funk phattening up the bass and percussion, however while the A-Side, "Acid Frequency" and "Jerk It" are dancefloor bombs, it is "Bitches" that makes this record an instant classic. This cut features a filtered dirty groove and pumpin' Chi-style percussion, with Funk delivering a nasty, rapid fire rap over the top about his various women - very very funny! "Bitches" is easily one of his bests works and fits well in any kind of house/techno set, a out and out classic!
