The definition tries to save the terribly stupid genre/style term "Intelligent Dance Music" by claiming that it was formed from the "Artificial Intelligence" compilation series. This is nonsense. It was meant exactly that other dance music should be devalued. The target group were rock fans and people from the art scene who didn't want to dance and couldn't either.

I want "Chesh" to be played at my funeral, probably in my top 3 favorite electronic compositions I have ever heard. Up there with E2-E4. A perfect soundtrack to the struggle of life, and the never ending beauty of the journey that keeps you fascinated yet sorrowful of the process.

Not sure why it doesn't say it anywhere, but this version is the orange and purple label one (the other UK Warp variant has blue and red labels). I've always assumed this is the original, as it's the one I bought in 1995.

I worship this record and still listen to it today with emotion and a sense of discovery as new sounds and textures appear to my ears and mind. A record to listen entirely in a row not as we are used to do these days with streaming sites and mp3s.
If anyone has information on whose voices are heard on « Chase the Manhattan » I would be very grateful to him or her. A 25 years old enigma for me.

Has anyone thoughts about whether WARP will consider re-issueing a 2xLP?

For me you can't compare Bytes to Spanners or visa versa. Both albums are completely different with different objectives, both stand equally but in vastly different places.

My friend found a copy of this in a skip in Brighton, and kindly gave it to me. It was in NM condition and contained a press release... Amazing album that I still treasure to this day, the music within defies definition really. Timeless.
