Along with BLUESMITH and ROOT DOWN, this is one of Jimmy Smith's better albums from the 1970's, a live date recorded in 1977 at his Los Angeles restaurant. Harold Land and Blue Mitchell feature on horns, and Smith sounds vital and inspired throughout. His two studio albums for Mercury were slick and overly commercial, but this is refreshingly loose, feeling like a throwback to his Blue Note jams twenty years prior, particularly on the last track, "Say It Again, Jim". This pressing sounds fine, the rhythm section is well recorded, Smith's organ jumps out at you, and the soundstage is clear and well defined. My copy plays nice and clean with occasional light surface noise.
