Based on some of the comments I've seen about the quality of the Applause reissues, I expected this to sound a lot worse than it does. It's inferior to a Blue Note pressing, a bit thin sounding, but for five bucks, it's fine. The title track is an extended jam, and features some of the most ferocious jamming of Smith's career. Fantastic. Ugly ugly ugly album cover, but to be fair, the original cover was on the weak side too. PLAIN TALK contains more music from the same session that produced the OPEN HOUSE album. My copy plays nice and clean, with no notable surface noise.referencing Plain Talk (CD, Album, Reissue) APBC 4411
