Reviews
- I think this is the version I have, but my copy is definitely opaque red, not translucent — anyone else?
- Sounds OK - but yet another really low volume cut. Are all modern vinyl albums cut at a really low volume now?
- First Fever Ray album (listened to many before), but it did not disappoint. Flat, quite, and dynamic.
- There's lots of vinyl reviews but no CD reviews and I wanted to share my thoughts.
The CD version is a nice package. It is the usual cardboard, as is the trend these days, but it has two compartments, colourful artwork and a lyrics sheet with a poster on the reverse - you couldn't really ask for anything more. Perhaps a few more photos would be cool but maybe that would be a bit pointless anyway.
As for the music, I love it, which is why I bought it. Thanks, Fever Ray. - Clean and sonically crisp albeit a bit muted/quiet. No pops or other annoyances.
Musically there is no artistic growth from previous releases. The 2 standout tracks lead off side A: "What They Call Us" and "Shiver". The rest just does not do much to excite and LP concludes with the much too long drivel of "Bottom of the Ocean". Nothing here comes close to the masterpiece "If I Had A Heart" - #3421, Nothing wrong with my copy, actually quite good, Side B is just as right as side A, only the last song of Side A, "Even it Out" is clearly distorted and not cut correctly.
- Edited one year agoAfter having problems with the european red edition, I tried this version. Unfortunately I had no real luck. The first few seconds of music of both sides have loud crackling noise. In more silent parts, there ist always modest crackle and surface noise. The runouts welcome themeselfs with very a loud pop. The surface of the vinyl is not very even. Somethin went wrong with that one.
Luckily the music is loud in most parts of the record, so a lot people could live with it. I am not sure, if I will send it back to try again.
edit: I tried again. The record I got in exchange is way better. Still some crackling at the beginnen of the first track of side A. All in all it is okay. Will keep it. - Mastered a little quietly but sounds great. None of the pops and crackles mentioned on the European red edition.
