referencing Ahead (CD, Album) 5354702
Lunik had a HUGE shoe to fill after their debut album 'Rumour'. My initial expectation was that they could not produce a second album of such high calliber. However, this talented group created an album absolutely worthy.
The lyrics in both 'Rumour' and 'Ahead' are special in that the focus is not to impress the larger vocal obligation that love is the only thing to sing about. The intelligence here has created an album based solely on abstract ideas that flow the lyrics to fully individualise each song. They are as mysterious in meaning as those in 'Rumour', which was an absolute delight to hear, though they lose this aspect in their later releases, unfortunately.
It is suprising how well Lunik continues to incorporate electronica and instruments to create funky rythms and soundscapes that maintain in originality. 'Digitally' is a masterpiece because of the way it creates an obscure image of a dark future ruled by technology by harnassing industrial sounds and the lyrics. But expect this mastery in every single track.
This album is a delightful genious of an album. While individual songs have recieved more attention than others, such as the mesmerising 'Waiting', they all deserve to be held as individuals with the most complex of personalities.
