- Edited 2 years agoOnly the Trentemøller Remix is the one for me here. The other 2 remixes are pretty BORING and soft. The ''Thin White Duke'' particularly is very atmospheric, and uninteresting, and the ''Vitalic''remix is repetitive and tiresome that doesn't do anything.
But the (Trentemøller Remix) really kicks ass, and can be found on ''Trentemøller Chronicles'' album compilation along with other classic Trentemoller remixes, so don't loose time and money buying this one, and go straight to the Chronicles page. - Can someone confirm, is the "Album Version" available on this release identical to the one on the actual album i.e. has an intro for "Circuit Breaker"? Thank you!
- Røyksopp need to repress this with their own version on the release. It's crazy that What Else Is There? is not on a 12"
- Although this could easily be a standard Röyksopp song, what really gives it the edge is Karin Dreijer's haunting vocals, and thank God it isn't run through a bloody vocoder because her voice is SO strong on its own. It bruns through your spine and leaves you sitting there, with a feeling you cannot describe with words.
The lyrics are very abstract and they definitely lend themselves open to interpretation.
Truly one of Röyksopp's best tracks, and my definite favourite of the album. referencing What Else Is There? (12", Promo) WALL T 111 PR
The whole point of a remix is to make something new of a track - to perhaps improve it, or perhaps make it worse, in some people's eyes.
Hence why neither of these remixes retain the original's vibe, yet are both brilliant tracks in their own right.
Both can rock a club massively, but Trentemoller's does so far more adroitly, with a bouncy, thumping bassline.
Jacques Lu Cont's version is more emotional, like a lot of his remixes under this alias, and does a great job as a closing track.

The Trentemøller remix is a great piece of dark electro house. The vocals are used well and the bassline is huge. It also features a wonderful breakdown where it goes into just the vocals and guitar before building up to the full track again. Definately one of his better remixes. - Edited 19 years ago

I don't quite understand what Thin Duke did here. The original song (to me) was supposed to sound eery and mysterious, and yet... This remix has turned it in to some bouncy house remix; I don't seem to make the connection here. It wouldn't be so bad to groove to, if only it was orginally an instrumental version, because the lyrical content of the song and the rhythm of this remix don't seem to make a match.
Trentemøller did nice with this song with some minimal work on the song and adding some bass guitar riffs in; still remains as it's original eery self. - Edited 19 years agoTRENTEMOLLER!!!! This release is a must have. The Trentemoller remix is one of the best, most original, and stomping tracks to come out in years. The other remix's are good, too. Standouts: Vitalic, Emporer Machine Dub.
