Beggars Banquet is the seventh British and ninth American studio album by the English rock band The Rolling Stones, recorded 17 March–25 July 1968 and released on 6 December 1968 by Decca in the United Kingdom and London Records in the United States.

In UK, the first laminated gatefold cover was printed by Garrod and Lofthouse. The time in between the decision on how the cover should look like and the actual manufacturing was probably very short. They had no time to wait for the Patent to be registered so they had to put the "Patents Pending" text next to the name (https://www.stonesondecca.com/the-60s-decca/beggars-banquet/).
Beggars Banquet was released at the end of 1968, when the mono production in UK was at the end.
This is why it is more common to find this text on stereo cover.

For the above reason, the text "Patents Pending" identify the very earliest UK mono cover.

The earliest matrix known for the mono version end with -4A (side 1) and -2A (side 2).

A fantastic 1970s pressing from Australia in a beautiful laminated gatefold sleeve. The soundstage on this is excellent, full and vibrant. You can hear right into this pressing with perfectly centered vocals and excellent separation. Highest recommendation which slaps the original domestic USA pressings I have had and sold.

The claim that the DSD mastering captures every nuance is absolutely correct. After listening to the SACD layer of this culmination of the best aspects of the Rolling Stones one will be disappointed with every other edition, including the PCM layer.

Important record by The Stones! I have it on SACD and this vinyl release.

But I'm disappointed about the inner gatefold (black and white photo of the Stones as beggars during lunch). The quality of the print is awful! It's like a copy of a copy or something; no details and almost blurry. Not good.

Sound quality is ok.

I finally secured a NM copy of this 1968 stereo pressing. I must say, I'm as pleased with this as I am with my 2002 Abkco digipak CD reissue. Such a clear, lively sounding pressing. Makes me wonder why we needed compact discs in the first place.

My version’s got this runout and label, but the back of the sleeve says “Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richard.” After looking at a couple other versions in the database, my guess is that the record is a second pressing that the factory people put it into a leftover first-pressing sleeve. I can’t find anything in the forums to confirm or deny this. Any thoughts?
