This is also an AAA record - the CD is AAD (I have the special edition CD to confirm).- I have to say the sound is stellar, some songs just ooze layers of texture. spread your wings and feels like goin home are just stunning. Some bad static on A4 which is really disappointing. Minor static between B3 and 4

Fun fact: According to Tom Bejgrowicz’s “Should I Quit or Do You Want To Fire Me?” this CD version of Pure Phase was the inspiration for the custom jewel case Caroline Records designed for The Misfits’ debut album, Static Age. It was included in the first pressing of the Coffin boxset. The second pressing, referred to by Tom as “the accountant version”, included regular jewel cases instead. - Got the glow in the dark - does the end of Side C sound really distorted and bad on the black version too?
- My copy sounds excellent. There’s little surface noise other than what you’d hear normally, and yeah, the whole colored vinyl thing has gotten a little annoying, but hey, its a marketing gimmick and records have had marketing gimmicks (read picture discs, pop up gatefolds, rolling papers, and the list goes on) so really, give em a break. I’m just happy that someone put the money behind getting some of these old presses up and running and most importantly, vinyl is back in a big way. And what’s wrong with that all you “record collectors”? In a world of profitless downloads (see Snoop’s rant (Google it) for the truth on downloads. Is that what you want the record collecting world to be? Not me.
- This tape sounds incredible. It’s remarkably better than the gimmicky glow-in-the-dark vinyl reissue
- With the exception of some crackles at the end of track A4, these glowin-in-the-dark platters sound great to me. And yes, it really glows.
- Bought the standard black edition, after a major disappointment with the sound quality of the coloured ("Glow In The Dark") version - and compared them quite carefully: yes, the black edition is quieter, less (background) noise, BUT the sound is partially equally crappy, muddy, distorted, dynamics are out of control (partially the sound is even worse on the black version). Listened to the CD/digital version of the album over the same PA right away and realised what I am missing frequency wise on this vinyl (!!!). It seams that with this on going vinyl mania/hype the skills / technical abilities to achieve proper sound qualities on vinyl got (partially) lost - considering the fact that this and other reissues supposedly been produced under the premise/promise of "explicitly supervised quality control") - as long as people will be eagerly paying all this ridiculous prices for bling-bling releases with such poor sound quality, without being even able to realise that they buy crap, then this new vinyl industry will be flooding the zone with crap like this.
I am giving myself a break with newly pressed vinyl releases. Too many recent disappointments. Ultimately I want to enjoy listening to music and not collecting shinny objects. And I certainly don’t have time, energy and patience to study the sound quality of poorly manufactured goods and then reviewing them online. this is the last one … I promise 🤣🤣🤣 - Edited 2 years agocoloured vinyl mania is completely out of control: noisy, hissy sound quality for x-tra expensive pressings for those who care more about bling-bling than sound quality... played this record now like 5 times since purchase and the sound quality
