ABC – How To Be A Millionaire

Why is this not under the Millionaire single? It’s the 2nd 12” mix not an isolated release.

My 12" (Bought used) also came with the Bond St. Mix disc (NTXR107)

This unique version (detailed below), did resurface on a various artists CD compilation: Time/Life's "Another Lost Decade: Second British Invasion,” released in the U.S. in 2005 by EMI Music Special Markets. That compilation has yet be documented on Discogs.

Not officially on the label, Track #1 How To Be A Zillionaire (Nickel & Dime Mix) plays for 5:21; #2 How To Be A Zillionaire (Bond Street Mix) plays for 6:05 and #3 Tower Of London (Extended Version) plays for 5:54.

Just wanted to mention that this original 7" version is different to the album version in several ways and, as far as I know, has never appeared anywhere other than on the single. It has none of the spoken samples ("pound", "money" etc.), has a screechy synth inst break instead of the guitar break of the later version, and features Eden (or Fiona, as she was then) doing some “Who wants to be..” backing vocals. The B-side is unique too.

Love this track, oldie but goodie from the early 80's. You can hear echoes of the big minimal beats and innovative sampling (which only a few if any other groups at the time e.g. Colourbox were getting into) in later dance industrial groups of the 80's...

I agree with what baj said - not only a dance classic but an MTV classic, too - the video for this was mostly done in cartoon format with some 'real world' clips of the ABC members... sort of like a-ha's "Take On Me" but without the plot or heavy integration of cartoon and real world scenes. It was sort of a mockery or a send-up of big ---- zillion dollar ---- budget records and the videos that went with them. Seemed like a novelty then but now looking back its actually quite a little social commentary they made when we weren't looking! :)
