A confusing situation with 12" extended mixes here
The original 'Potoker' remix (called 'Extended Mix') wich was issued with very first copies of the 12"-single, only.
The Potoker mix was shortly after withdrawn because the band didn't like it. Virgin Records had already pressed some records and printed up a lot of covers and delivered them to the stores. Same happened to the UK release.
The Potoker remix can be identified by the runout matrix A-1/8-86 B-1/8-86 II only. These being quiet rare, now.
All other pressings with A2... matrix feature the new and more common Tom Lord-Alge remix.
Once the pressing and delivery of the Potoker-Mix had been stopped, the still existing and remaining 'Potoker-covers' were simply used for the first 'newly' pressed Tom Lord-Alge remix 12"-Singles. After the 'Potoker-covers' exhausted, it was re-designed and featured the correct Lord-Alge as 'remixer'.
The labels for all releases don't always help. As the remixer names/track durations are not always present and both mixes have a similar run time anyway.
Officially the 'Potoker' Mix is 5:45 and the 'Lord-Alge Mix' is slightly longer at 5:55
The sure fire way to tell which remix you have is that the 'Potoker' Remix starts straight in with the bass synth note, and the 'Lord Alge' remix fades in with a high synth and then drums.

Vinyl appears translucent gray color when held up to the light.
Edited one year agoGreat song.
I have an odd version though. The B-side is listed as This Town, as per the listing above, however the song is an instrumental version of The Human League - Human. Even when I did a shazam on the tune, it indicated it was the extended version of Human (but this song didn't have lyrics sung).
I would assume this is some type of error.
Anyone who has a copy of this release and would like to sell, please contact me.
